MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING

May 1, 2017

The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met May 1, 2017; at 6:30 p.m. President Bill Rushe called the

meeting to order and led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Bill Rushe, Jessica Fulton, Chuck Scott, Randy Cole, Mickey Dacus,

Donna Depukat, Mike Willey, Barbara Campbell, Jo Ann Yager, Diane Barber, Larry Watson and secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez.

A quorum was established.

Association members present were: Kathy Fink, Diane Plunk, Ned Plunk, Scott Fitzpartick, Dale Wardlaw, Peggy Wardlaw, Steve

Shifflett, Dodi Shifflett, Donna Miller, Abby Miller, and Janice Burchett.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of April 3, 2017 were reviewed by the directors. Motion was made to accept the

minutes as presented; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement was reviewed. There being no changes, the report was accepted for

review.

Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:

Playground

 Ms. Fulton reported that s-hooks are not approved for 1 of the swings.

Pool

 Mr. Scott requested that the pool chemicals be purchased throughout the season instead of as one order. There were some

needed clarifications regarding the pool latch and spring as required by the insurance. Mr. Rushe agreed to follow-up with the

insurance inspector regarding the required latch and spring.

 The board agreed to look into replacing the pool fence before the pool season begins.

Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:

Lakes & Dams

 Mr. Cole passed out proposed bids for the dock and drive on Thunderbird Drive North.

 Mr. Cole suggested going with the 2nd lowest bid from Bubba Wilson for $5,800 explaining that for the $800 difference it has

more reinforcement and is like having a double structure.

 The lowest bid for the driveway is $7,420. The total proposed bid for the dock and drive is $13,220.00.

 Due to concerns regarding shallow water and the launching of boats, Mr. Cole agreed to check into the cost of digging out the

boat launch area so that the boats could safely be launched off the upper lake.

 Ms. Depukat made the motion to accept the proposed bid submitted by Bubba Wilson for $5,800, Chuck Scott seconded the

motion. The motion passed 9-0.

 Ms. Cole made the motion to accept the proposed bid submitted by RNEC Limestone for $7,420, Larry Watson seconded the

motion. The motion passed 9-0.

Mowing

 No report.

Publicity: Orange Book, Beautification/Sanitation/Building Permits & Greeter:

 Ms. Depukat had nothing new to report.Beautification

 Mr. Willey reported sending out four (4) letters, three (3) follow-up letters and one (1) property that will proceed to court if

not corrected.

Permits

 Mr. Willey presented one (1) building permit request for an addition.

 Mr. Scott made the motion to approve the request as presented, Larry Watson seconded the motion. The motion passed 10-0.

Greeter

 Ms. Campbell reported visiting with one (1) new resident.

Clubhouse:

 Ms. Yager reported one (1) rental for the month of April.

 The landscaping in front of the clubhouse was completed.

 Ms. Yager made the motion that the board allow an additional $8.00 for the rekeying of the locks, Mr. Scott seconded the

motion. The motion passed 10-0.

Finance:

 There are currently 93 unpaid lots totaling $40,067.91 in uncollected dues.

 Saturday, May 20, from 7-10 next Saturday button day.

Security:

 Security officer Larry Watson reported one incident of children playing in the lakes.

 4-wheelers and untagged recreational vehicles are not permissible on county roads.

Ladies Club:

 Ms. Fink reported that the Ladies Club will be holding a luncheon May 2 @ 11:00. There will be a guest speaker giving a

talk on ladies self-defense and neighborhood watch.

New/Unfinished Business

Senior Resource Guide:

 Mark Thomas informed residents of a new Senior Resource Guide that is published by Desoto County and includes a lot of

valuable information for seniors. Mr. Thomas gave several copies to the Ladies Club to be passed out to senior residents.

 Anyone who would like a copy please contact a Ladies Club member or the Board of Supervisor’s office.

 Mr. Thomas informed senior residents of a program that will pull the trashcan to the road for pickup for any residents that are

physically unable.

Welcome Sign:

 Ms. Depukat reported that she had found a 3×3 electronic sign for $400.00, that could be attached to the security building.

 Mr. Rushe agreed to check with Entergy on getting electricity at the guard shack.

 Ms. Depukat agreed to look into ordinances regarding signs.

The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting, the meeting adjourned at 7:36 p.m.
