MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING

February 3, 2020

The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met February 3, 2020; at 7:00 p.m. Ned

Plunk called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Richard Gatlin, Billy St.Cin, Diane

Barber, Al Pethel, Vicki Moore, Barbara Campbell, Larry Moore, and Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A

quorum was established.

Association members present were: Kathy Fink, Janice Burchett, JoAnn Yager, Donny Plunk, Linda Babb and

Mark Thomas.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of January 6, 2020 were reviewed by the directors. A motion

was made to accept the minutes with one correction, seconded and passed unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of January was reviewed. The motion was made,

to accept the financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Finance:

 Ms. Rowell emailed the following report:

 Fees to record the BVL Charter in DeSoto County is $26.00 for up to 5 pages and $1.00 for each page after

5. There were some issues with the Mississippi Secretary of State website, however the previous fees to

obtain a certified copy of the Charter is $15.00.

 On the ***** collection, the individual is continuing to evade service, the attorney has indicated that BVL

can file a pre-judgement attachment to the City Police for $125.00. The board agreed to postpone any action

until more board members are present.

Neighborhood Watch:

 Mr. Gatlin reported that there had been no activity of concern for the month of January.

 Ms. Moore reported that Mr. St. Cin was appreciative for community volunteers assisting in patrols.

 Non-emergency calls can be made to DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department at 662.469.8599.

Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:

Playground & Ballfield:

 Ms. Barber reported that there are some branches to be cleaned up after the storm.

Pool

 No report.

Clubhouse:

 Ms. Moore made the motion to increase the clubhouse rental fee, on a trial basis to $100.The board agreed to

table the motion until more board members could be present. The motion was tabled.

Publicity: Orange Book, Beautification/Sanitation/Building Permits & Greeter:

 No report.

Beautification: Mr. Pethel reported that 4 properties are being monitored for violations. Due to the tornado and amount of

damage there is ongoing community cleanup.

Permits

 Ms. Moore reported one fence permit request; the request was approved contingent that all dues and

assessments are paid in full. The motion was made, seconded and passed 6-0.

Greeter

 Ms. Campbell reported no new visits.

Mowing

 Nothing new to report.

Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:

Lakes & Dams

 No report

Welcome Sign

 Mr. Joe Mabe offered to fund and oversee the construction of a brick encasement for the front entrance

message board. Mr. Gatlin made the motion to accept Mr. Mabe’s generous offer, Ms. Moore seconded the

motion. The motion passed 6-0.

Thank you

 Discussion was held on how to best thank the volunteers that came into BVL after the tornado. Some

suggestions that were made included hosting a potluck, posting a “thank you” in the local newspaper as well

as creating a post on social media. It was agreed that discussion would be tabled until more information

could be obtained and more board members could be present.

Water Association

 Mr. Plunk reported that the water association has requested an informal meeting with him. Mr. Moore, Mr.

Gatlin and Ms. Moore agreed to be present during the meeting.

The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:31 p.m.
