MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING
January 6, 2020
The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met January 6, 2020; at 7:00 p.m. Ned
Plunk called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.
A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Teri Rowell, Billy St.Cin, Larry Wilson,
Diane Barber, Al Pethel, Vicki Moore, Barbara Campbell, Larry Moore, Steve Shifflett and Secretary-treasurer
Christy Chavez. A quorum was established.
Association members present were: Kathy Fink, Janice Burchett, JoAnn Yager, Donny and Ann Plunk.
MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of December 9, 2019 were reviewed by the directors. A
motion was made to accept the minutes with one correction, seconded and passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of December was reviewed. The motion was
made, to accept the financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Finance:
Ms. Rowell reported that there are currently no laws or restrictions on rental property.
Ms. Rowell offered to contact DeSoto county and confirm the cost of having a certified copy of the BVL
charter recorded at the DeSoto County courthouse.
Ms. Moore made the motion that any budgeted committee money that remains at the end of the year be rolled
over to the new year. Mr. St. Cin seconded the motion, the motion carried 8-1.
Due to rising operation costs Ms. Moore made the motion to increase the $75 administration invoice fee to
$100. Ms. Rowell seconded the motion, the motion carried 8-1.
Neighborhood Watch:
Mr. St. Cin reported that in lieu of gas reimbursement, security funds be used to upgrade the existing security
cameras to cameras with better resolution.
Mr. St. Cin asked residents and board members to assist in patrolling the community. Anyone willing to
assist please contact security.

Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:
Playground & Ballfield:
Ms. Barber reported that she had cleaned up the ballfield and playground.
Pool
Mr. Wilson had nothing new to report.
Clubhouse:
Mr. Shifflett reported 5 rentals. Money for 3 of the rentals was turned in at the December meeting and one of
the 5 rentals was for the rental of tables and chairs.

Mr. Pethel reported that 9 properties are being monitored for violations Some of the properties that were reported
at the January board meeting are in the process of being resolved.

Greeter
Ms. Campbell reported visiting with 1 new resident.
Mowing
Nothing new to report.
Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:
Lakes & Dams
Mr. Shifflett reported that he cleaned up fishing lines, leaves and debris from the common areas.
Reported drainage issue to county engineer Andy Swims.
Mr. Burkhart quoted the coffer dam would cost approximately $5,500-$6,000 per dam.
Mr. Shifflett located a device that would cut out the concrete around the cracks and joints. The piece
of equipment can be purchased for $3,950. Mr. Plunk suggested contacting Memphis Concrete
Cutting for an estimate.
There are some approximately 6-12 dispersive soil areas that will need managing.
Mr. Shifflett made the motion that the electricity to the pumps be turned off if Mr. Cates could give
no reason to their need to be left on. Ms. Moore seconded the motion, the motion passed 8-0.
Streetlights
Ms. Rowell made the motion to table the suggestion to turn off the streetlights that are not located on
common property until the board has an opportunity to see where the streetlights are located. Mr. Shifflett
seconded the motion, the motion passed 8-0.
The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m.
