July 6, 2020
The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met July 6, 2020; at 7:00 p.m. Ned Plunk called
the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Richard Gatlin, Larry Wilson, Diane Barber,
Steve Shifflett, Al Pethtel, Larry Moore, and Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A quorum was established.
Association members present were: Martha James, Steve Pionk, Karen Moore, Donna Miller, Donny and Ann Plunk.
MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of June 1, 2020, were reviewed by the directors. A motion was made
to accept the minutes, seconded and passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of June was reviewed. The motion was made to accept the
financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Finance:
Delinquent letters are in the process of being sent out to delinquent properties. In thirty days any delinquent
accounts will be turned over to the attorney for collection.
Neighborhood Watch:
Ms. Moore dropped off the following DeSoto County Sheriff’s report:
The new security system is ready to be installed
There were 4 complaints made to the sheriff’s department for the month of May.
There were 4 complaints made to the sheriff’s department for the month of June.
Mr. Gatlin reported:
1 drinking incident
1 incident of non-compliance of buttons
1 incident of an individual blocking the boat ramp area without proper tags

Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:
Playground & Ballfield:
Ms. Barber reported that the Ladies Club donated $150 toward the repair of the playground slides. A special
thanks to all that the ladies do for the community.
Pool
Mr. Wilson reported that there will be enough pool chemicals until the end of July.
There have been a couple of incidents with non-compliance of buttons
Clubhouse:
Steve Shifflett reported:
Larry Moore and Larry Wilson assisted in moving picnic tables in order to conform to the state
Covid-19 guidelines. Assisted Larry Moore and Larry Wilson with storing pool furniture due to Covid-19
Responded to resident complaint regarding individual swearing in pool area with cooler
Purchased and installed outside switch, fire extinguisher and handicap sign for clubhouse ramp area
Removed fallen limbs from playground area
Contacted repairman to repair clubhouse air conditioner motor and fan blade at a charge of $839.39.
Repair was voted on by board members through text due
Conducted button checks at pool
Met with food truck owner regarding resident complaining about noise from generator. It was agreed
that the food truck would be moved to the opposite side of the clubhouse so as not to bother the
resident

Mr. Pethtel reported:
Two (2) citation letters mailed out during the month of June
One (1) concern forwarded to the county
Two (2) properties are showing improvement.
Assisted Ms. Barber in assessing the playground equipment and how to best preserve it

Mowing
Mr. Moore reported meeting with Mr. Woolever to discuss current grass progress. It was reported that
although the grass cutting is going well there is an ever increasing need for additional spraying and trimming
of low hanging limbs
A bid was requested on seasonal flowers for the front sign.
These topics will be addressed in the upcoming bid proposal
Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:
Lakes & Dams
Mr. Shifflett reminded residents that the Orange Book only allows for up to 6 guests with a button allocated
for each guest.
Mr. Shifflett reported:
Mr. Moore, Mr. Gatlin and Mr. Donny Plunk assisted in digging up dirt and filling in areas as needed
County is working on culverts as if they are not clean the water will pile up and overflow onto the
road
Mr. Wilson completed the state required inspection
Number three has some bad issues over the road. The county is assisting in seeing how they can be
of assistance
Mr. Shifflett is currently working on a binder with important information relating to the lakes and
dams for future lakes and dams chairmen
Complaints were received regarding an individual commercially fishing on BVL lakes. The board
agreed that the President send a letter to the home owner asking that they cease commercial fishing
on BVL privately owned lakes The board agreed that Mr. Shifflett work on a Standing Rule addendum restricting commercial
fishing and limiting noodles and trotlines on Buena Vista Lakes. Mr. Pionk agreed to speak with Mr.
Hal Moore on the subject
Cleaned up pier of derelict fishing line and hooks
Mr. Gatlin assisted in picking up all the bags of trash that had been cleaned up on common areas
Mr. Donny Plunk, Richard Gatlin, and Larry Moore assisted in filling ruts
Board Nomination
Mr. Shifflett nominated Donny Plunk to serve as Clubhouse director; Mr. Donny Plunk accepted the
nomination. The nomination was seconded and passed.
The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 933 p.m.
