MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING
January 7, 2019
The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met January 7, 2019; at 7:00 p.m. Ned
Plunk called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.
A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Teri Rowell, Kathy Fink, Diane Barber,
Jo Ann Yager, Vicki Moore, Barbara Campbell, Larry Moore, Steve Shifflett, Richard Gatlin, Mike Willey and
Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A quorum was established.
Association members present were: Linda Babb, Donva Miller, and Rose Costello.
MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of December 10, 2018 were reviewed by the directors.
Motion was made to accept the minutes as presented. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of December 10 was reviewed. The motion was
made, to accept the financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Finance:
Ms. Rowell reported that she is currently reviewing the insurance policy and will be meeting with various
insurance agencies to discuss options, coverages exclusions and to shop rates.
Larry Moore made the motion to proceed to the next step on the 3 accounts with the highest amount owed
and that has judgements. Kathy Fink seconded the motion, passed 9-0.
Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:
Playground & Ballfield:
All equipment is in safe working condition.
Mr. Moore reported that the boards have been replaced on the picnic tables. The footings will be completed
when weather permits.
Pool
Ms. Fink reported that she will call and get on the pool opening schedule and get an estimate to present at the
next board meeting.
Ms. Fink agreed to have Mr. Fink look over the pool for any needed repairs.
Clubhouse:
Jo Ann Yager reported 7 rentals. Eleven dollars and seventy-six cents was spent on floor cleaner and twenty-
eight dollars and eighty two cents was spent on the picnic tables.
Beautification:
No report.
Permits
Ms. Fulton reported by text that there was no change in previous mailed out letters and a second mailing will
be sent out on Wednesday.

Mr. Moore reported that he is currently taking bids for mowing.
Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:
Lakes & Dams
Steve Shifflett reported on the following items:
Seed and hay was spread around the boat ramp and creek bed. Seed was placed around levee
number 2.
The county finished the culvert by the Smith’s home and in 1-2 months will be working on
the culvert by the creek weather permitting.
The boat ramp is working great, however more concrete is needed due to the water rising to
the gravel. Mr. Shifflett reported that Mr. Burkhart quoted $1,885 for 4 loads of gravel and
$1,440 to extend the concrete (18 x 15) for a total of $3,325. Vicki Moore made the motion
to complete the boat ramp project, Richard Gatlin seconded the motion. The motion passed
8-1 with 1 individual abstaining.
Engineer, Steve Wilson would like to see the cleaning and repairing of cracks on the levee’s
to begin. Burkhart placed a bid for $10,860. More bids will be attempted by Mr. Shifflett.
Holes need to be drilled on the spillway and a scope inserted to determine a course of action
for voids. Approximate cost $4,800.
Thunderbird spillway may need to be replaced. Approximate cost 60,000.
Spillway #4 needs to have the rest of the trees cut.

Neighborhood Watch:
Mr. Gatlin had nothing new to report.
Mr. Willey agreed to contact Sheriff Rasco and request a stronger presence in the community.
Ms. Babb reminded residents to place house numbers on homes.

Ladies Club:

Benevolence Committee:
The board agreed to form a Benevolence Committee: Ned Plunk, Mike Willey and Vicki Moore agreed to
serve on the committee.
The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m.
