MINUTES OF MONTHLY MEETING
March 2, 2020
The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met February 3, 2020; at 7:00 p.m. Ned
Plunk called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.
A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Teri Rowell, Richard Gatlin, Steve
Shifflett, Al Pethtel, Vicki Moore, Barbara Campbell, Larry Moore, and Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A
quorum was established.
Association members present were: Kathy Fink, Janice Burchett, JoAnn Yager, Donny Plunk, Rosalie Costello
and Donna Miller.
MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of March 2, 2020 were reviewed by the directors. A motion
was made to accept the minutes with one correction, seconded and passed unanimously.
FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of February was reviewed. The motion was made,
to accept the financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Resignation: Ms. Chaney resigned as Orange Book chairman. Ms. Rowell made the motion that Ms. Donna
Depukat fill Ms. Chaney’s position. Mr. Gatlin seconded the motion, the motion passed 6-0.
Finance:
Motion was made and seconded to table pre-judgement action on service until serving agent gives update.
Motion passed 8-0.
Neighborhood Watch:
Mr. Gatlin reported that there had been no activity of concern for the month of February.
Ms. Moore reported that 4 calls: 1 call for reckless driving, 1 welfare call, 1 fraud, and 1 suspicious activity.

Recreation: Pool, Ballfield, Playground:
Playground & Ballfield:
Ms. Barber messaged report that she is currently conducting some cleanup.
Pool
Mr. Wilson messaged that he is currently working on getting the pool ready for the summer opening.
Clubhouse:
Mr. Shifflett reported 1 rental in January, 1 rental in February, one rental cancelled due to tornado.
Clubhouse was used as the command center during the tornado. The excess water was moved to the Lakes
and Dams storage shed to be used for volunteers/workers.
Please remember not to turn off the outside light switch that is located in the kitchen
The flag located at the clubhouse was replaced.
Publicity: Orange Book, Beautification/Sanitation/Building Permits & Greeter:

No report.Beautification:
Mr. Pethtel reported meeting with Michael Lee on beautification concerns. Mr. Lee requested that the
Beautification chair send a letter to the resident with the citation, giving the resident an opportunity to correct the
violation. If the citation is not corrected then the resident will be turned over to the county at which time the
county will take action.
Due to the tornado damage and some homes being hard hit, no current beautification letters are being sent out.
One truck and one travel trailer was reported to be in violation to beautification.
Residents were reminded that an HOA is established in order to maintain property values.

Permits
Ms. Moore reported one storage shed replacement. The motion was made, seconded and passed 8-0.
Greeter
Ms. Campbell reported three new visits.
Mowing
Nothing new to report.
Maintenance: Lakes & Dams & Mowing:
Lakes & Dams
Mr. Shifflett reported that all spillways and dams were inspected.
Cleanup of boat ramp, spillways and the seawall was conducted.
Cleaned up fallen trees, bushes, and limbs.
Dusting of fire ant hills was accomplished.
Posted concerns regard individuals riding 4-wheelers on #1 dam.
Made contact with several companies on various products to use for sealing the cracks and joints.
Some erosion was noted on #3 dam that is a result of the asphalt across the spillway. Mr. Lee was
contacted regarding the concern.
Pumps
Ms. Moore made the motion to turn off the 3 BVL pumps, Mr. Moore seconded the motion. The motion
passed 7-1.
Streetlights
Mr. Shifflett made the motion to turn off all streetlights not on BVL common property. Prior to turning off
the streetlights residents in the vicinity of the streetlights will be contacted by mail giving them thirty (30)
days to choose whether or not to take over the costs of the light. Ms. Depukat seconded the motion. The
motion passed 5-4.
Ladies Club
The Ladies Club announced that the Love Fireman along with the 3 ladies that served the community during
the aftermath of the tornado will be special guests at the April Community Potluck.
The annual Ladies Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held April 11th
.
The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:51 p.m.
