November 2, 2020

The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met November 2, 2020; at 7:00 p.m. Ned Plunk

called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Richard Gatlin, Vicki Moore, Donny Plunk,

Steve Shifflett, Teri Rowell, Larry Moore, and Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A quorum was established.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of September 14th and 15th, 2020, were reviewed by the directors. A

motion was made to accept the minutes, seconded, and passed unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of September & October was reviewed. The motion was

made to accept the financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Special Guests: Captain Poe and Chief Inspector Shepherd spoke with the BVL Board regarding how BVL and the

sheriff’s department could better work together for the benefit of the community.

Annual Meeting Results: There were 394 paid up residents on October 5th, ninety-nine (99) eligible votes were needed

in order to establish a quorum. There were seventy-four (74) ballots returned, a quorum was not established.

Nominations:

 Mr. Ned Plunk opened the floor for nominations for President. Ms. Vicki Moore nominated Mr. Ned Plunk, Mr.

Larry Moore seconded the motion. There were no more nominations; Mr. Plunk closed the floor for

nominations. The nomination passed 6-0.

 Mr. Ned Plunk opened the floor for nominations for Vice-President. Ms. Vicki Moore nominated Mr. Larry

Moore; Mr. Steve Shifflett seconded the motion. There were no more nominations; Mr. Plunk closed the floor

for nominations. The nomination passed 6-0.

 The board agreed that all chairs would retain their current chair.

 Ms. Rowell agreed to step in as Beautification Chair until Mr. Pethtel is able to resume his role.

Finance:

 Ms. Rowell proposed moving to ID bracelets in lieu of ID buttons for the upcoming 2021 year due to the

need for new buttons, the versatility of bracelets in addition to the cost, ability to mail and needed changes

due to Covid. Ms. Rowell made the motion to purchase 1,700 glow in the dark bracelets at a cost of $345.00,

Ms. Vicki Moore seconded the motion. The motion passed 6-0.

 The BVL attorney responded to questions concerning foreclosing on unpaid resident dues and assessments

(see attached). After much discussion the board agreed that Ms. Rowell would contact the BVL attorney for

further clarification regarding the legalities of foreclosures.

Neighborhood Watch:

 Mr. Gatlin reported that everything had went well during the past month..

 Ms. Vicki Moore reported 6 calls to the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department in September and 9 calls in

October..

Pool

 Mr. Wilson had nothing new to report.

Clubhouse:

 Donny Plunk reported:

 Two clubhouse rental cancellations.

 That he is currently in the process of winterizing the central air unit at the clubhouse.

Permits

 Ms. Vicki Moore had one building permit request for a backyard deck. Ms. Rowell seconded the motion, the

motion passed 6-0.

Greeter

 No report.

Mowing & Grounds

 Mr. Moore no new report.

Maintenance: Lakes & Dams:

 Mr. Shifflett reported:

 The damage on the top of #1 dam and downslope has been cleaned up and repaired thanks to the

assistance of the Larry Gabbard.

 Beaver hunt is scheduled for November 5th

.

 Work party is being scheduled to assist with cleanup on the lakes and dams.

New Business

December Meeting:

 Mr. Gatlin made the motion to move the December board meeting to December 14th so that families could

enjoy the Hernando Christmas Parade. Ms. Vicki Moore seconded the motion. The motion passed 6-0.

The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 9:10 p.m.
