MAINTENANCE ASSOCIATION, INC.

July 5, 2021

The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met July 5, 2021; at 7:00 p.m. Ned Plunk called

the meeting to order and Larry Wilson led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Richard Gatlin, Kimberly Wood, Larry Wilson,

Ann Plunk, Barbara Campbell, Larry Moore, and Secretary-treasurer Christy Chavez. A quorum was established.

Association members present were: Martha James, Karen Moore, Jackie Hodges, Kathy Fink, Cynthia Wilson, and

Janice Burchette.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of June 7, 2021, were reviewed by the directors. A motion was made

to accept the minutes, seconded, and passed unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of June was reviewed. The motion was made to accept the

financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Fireworks:

 A concerned BVL resident spoke to the board regarding a 4th of July firework incident that occurred on the back

levee. The board agreed unanimously that future firework events would need a security presence for safety

measures.

Finance:

 No report.

Neighborhood Watch:

 Mr. Gatlin had nothing new to report.

 Ms. Wood reported 7 calls and 5 additional community patrols.

 Ms. Moore reported that the cameras had been successfully installed at the clubhouse.

 Spoke with Ms. Herring with Entergy and ordered the security light for the front entrance. The tree limbs

around the light pole will need to be trimmed back so that the light can be installed.

 Residents are reminded to take video and/or picture proof when an unlawful act is taking place.

 Non-emergency security calls & concerns can be made to DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department at

662.469.8599.

Recreation (Pool, Ballfield & Playground):

 Mr. Wilson reported that other that some minor work on the filter selector everything is going well.

Clubhouse:

 Ms. Moore reported that a drain hose was added to the dehumidifier.

 There have been no rentals for the month of June with one tentative rental for October 16th

.

 Mr. Jason Berryhill has been contacted so that an estimate and suggestion can be made regarding the

clubhouse humidity issues.Orange Book

 Ms. Plunk’s report as follows:

o The Orange Book revision committee met twice in June.

o The committee agreed to focus on three topics: property value clause, penalty assessment clause, and

the addition of an online payment option for residents.

o Ms. Plunk reported that the Facebook page had been very useful in informing the community on

BVL news and that feedback within the community had been very favorable.

Beautification:

 Ms. Wood reported that no letters were mailed out during the month of June.

 Ms. Wood contacted DeSoto County leaders regarding some of the derelict properties in BVL and how to

best proceed forward with these properties.

Permits

 Ms. Moore reported 3 requests for information regarding permits.

o Lot 541 new resident called to inquire on information on new build.

o Lot 525potential new resident called to inquire on information on new build.

o Lot 144 potential new resident called to inquire on information on new build.

 Followed up on 2 properties

o Lot 523 poured a new patio and walkway

o Lot 135 conducted some septic and plumbing repair, landscaping, retaining wall repair, painting and

removal of trees. Discussion was had on obtaining the necessary permits for a new driveway.

Greeter

 Ms. Campbell reported visiting with 4 new residents.

Mowing & Grounds

 Mr. Moore reported that the mowing was going well and that several limbs at the front entrance had been

trimmed.

Maintenance: Lakes & Dams:

 Mr. Shifflett reported:

 Details are still being worked out with Bulldog Construction

 Contact was made with the BVL resident regarding the issue with the backyard water runoff. The

runoff appears to be part of a French drain system that was set up to remove water from the front of

the resident’s home.

The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 8:23 p.m.
