August 2, 2021

The Board of Directors of Buena Vista Lakes Maintenance Association met August 2, 2021; at 7:00 p.m. Ned Plunk

called the meeting to order and Larry Moore led the assembly in prayer.

A roll call of board members was requested. Present were: Ned Plunk, Teri Rowell, Richard Gatlin, Kimberly Wood,

Larry Wilson, Vicki Moore, Ann Plunk, Larry Moore, Steve Shifflett, Alex Waugh and Secretary-treasurer Christy

Chavez. A quorum was established.

Association members present were: Janice Burchette, Jackie Hodges, Kathy Fink, Karen Moore, Nathan and Bailey

Naramore.

MINUTES: The Minutes of the Monthly Meeting of July 5, 2021, were reviewed by the directors. A motion was made

to accept the minutes, seconded, and passed unanimously.

FINANCIAL REPORTS: The Monthly Financial Statement of July was reviewed. The motion was made to accept the

financials with no changes. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Finance:

 Ms. Rowell passed out the proposed 2022 Financial Budget

 Ms. Rowell made the motion to accept the proposed 2022 Financial Budget as presented and to be voted on

at the Annual October meeting, Ms. Moore seconded the motion. The motion passed 9-0.

 Lot XXXX is in the final steps of the garnishment process.

Neighborhood Watch:

 Mr. Gatlin had nothing new to report.

 Ms. Wood reported 12 calls to the Sheriff’s Department and 36 additional patrols. There were some

problems with golf carts and ATV’s.

 Residents are reminded to take video and/or picture proof when an unlawful act is taking place.

 Non-emergency security calls & concerns can be made to DeSoto County Sheriff’s Department at

Recreation (Pool, Ballfield & Playground):

 Mr. Wilson reported:

o The repair of the flanges that secure the ladder

o The repair of the valve selector

o The pool furniture was pulled out of storage and placed around the pool.

o There is a limb that will need to be trimmed in the near future.

Clubhouse:

 Ms. Moore reported:

o The drain hose on the humidifier is working well.

o Mr. Jason Berryhill & Mr. Donnie Plunk agreed to inspect the clubhouse to find out the source of

the humidity issues.

o Mr. Shifflett donated 2 wind turbine vents to the clubhouse.

o There are two pending rentals.Orange Book

 Ms. Plunk’s report as follows:

o The Orange Book revision committee met twice in July

o The committee agreed to defer the Standing Rule to the new board and to include swimming verbiage

o The proposed Article XX was passed out to the board for approval. The motion was made and

seconded to accept the proposal with one change. The motion passed 9-0.

Beautification:

 Ms. Wood reported:

o One property being reported to the planning commission.

o Four citation letters being sent out.

o One prohibited vehicle being reported to the planning commission.

Permits

 Ms. Moore reported:

o One request for a new fence. Ms. Plunk made the motion to approve the request, Mr. Waugh

seconded the motion. The motion passed 8-0.

Greeter

 Ms. Campbell reported visiting with 3 new residents.

Mowing & Grounds

 Mr. Moore reported:

o Mowing is going well

o Bids were taken for the tree trimming around the guard shack. Ms. Rowell made the motion to accept

the bid for $550.00 and for the funds to come out of the Administration’s Invoice funds, Mr. Gatlin

seconded the motion. The motion passed 9-0.

Maintenance: Lakes & Dams:

 Mr. Shifflett reported:

o Inspection of lakes and dams with L&D Engineer Steve Wilson, there have been some rule changes

.that will need to be addressed, such as the setback of trees from the base of the spillways.

o There is a hole forming that will need to be filled with a gypsum/dirt mixture.

o Some limbs need to be trimmed back in the near future.

o In June 6-8 inches of rain fell and Lake Tara in Oxford had to enact their EAP plan. Mr. Wilson

called Mr. Shifflett to congratulate him on an exceptional job in maintaining the BVL lakes and

Dams.

o Mr. Wilson presented Mr. Shifflett with a list of individuals to get quotes from for the MDEQ grant.

The best quote was for $42,000 for #1 &#2. The motion was made and seconded to proceed with the

application for the grant. The motion passed 9-0.

The motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 10:17 p.m.
